The development of the Mantis keyboard started as a hobby project in 2023 by posing a curious question: Does the geometry of hexagonal keys have inherent advantages when creating an ergonomic keyboard layout? The answer turned out to be a resounding "Yes" in more than one way. From the first proof-of-concept using flat hexagonal keys originally designed for music keyboards, the design evolved through three generations of prototypes into sculpted keywells made up of custom-designed keycaps arranged on two levels. This process culminates in our Founders Edition Mantis v1.0, which is equally stunning, ergonomic and a pleasure to use every day. HEXergoN Inc. was founded to increase accessibility to such workflows, promoting sustainable health and productivity.

Felix is the creative mind behind HEXergoN and remains responsible for the design and technology aspects. His journey thus far led to the realization that many others like him would benefit from his trials & learnings. His attention is now focused on scaling Mantis v1.0 manufacturing without compromising exceptional ergonomics, functionality, usability, or industrial design. Ambika came on board as co-founder, responsible for Ops & People. She brings scientific, procurement-finance and people-management experience, allowing a unique insight into partnership building and market capture. She handles all things Ops and acts as the face of the company.
